Step back in time every weekday from 3 – 4 pm with Jeff Gilbert and The Young Old-Timers in “The Studio off The Main Studio”, a magical place called JEFF’S JOYNT, where people just show up. Visitors include Ronald Reagan, Billy Bob Thornton, James Mason, Joe Pesci, Bill Clinton, Boris Karloff, Truman Capote, Raymond Burr, George W. Bush, Howard Hepburn (Katharine’s nephew), Al Gore with the Inconvenient Weather Report, Veteran Reporter Nad Chasechip, George, the Alcoholic Pilot up in the KSVY 1937 Autogyro in the Sky, and a cast of thousands who drop by and share a drink made by our own Bartender, John, the Sentimental Gentleman from Georgia.

Your host, Jeff Gilbert, has worked in the music business for almost 30 years. He began his career in the early 1980s as a disc jockey at Santa Rosa’s Music of Your Life Station KQTE, and since 1982, has worked professionally as a Big Band vocalist with the likes of The Guy Lombardo Orchestra under the direction of Tony Barron, The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra under the direction of Rex Allen, Bill Elliott and His Orchestra, Del Courtney and The Royal Hawaiian Hotel Orchestra, The Martini Brothers with Rick Fishman, The San Francisco Starlight Orchestra, The Royal Society Jazz Orchestra, Mike Henebry and His Orchestra, The Crazy Rhythm Hot Society Jazz Orchestra, and The Royal Knights (The Jeff Gilbert Trio). Jeff has commercially recorded 8 albums as the last crooner with The RSJO, CRHSJO, and The Bill Elliott Orchestra. In the 1996 Oliver Stone film, “Killer: A Journal of Murder” starring James Woods, Jeff sang 3 songs that were written for the soundtrack in the style of the 1920s and 1930s by the great Bill Elliott.
Jeff Gilbert is not only a performer but a music historian who covers the great period of music that lasted from 1899 to 1960. After hearing a few bars of a long-forgotten song, Jeff can not only tell you the title but who wrote it, who recorded it, who introduced it, in what year, what show it was from and even who published it! His knowledge of music is endless! Jeff’s massive collection of records, band charts, sheet music,16mm films and all things vintage make him the treasure he is, keeping great music from the 20th century alive and well in the 21st century.
Jeff is still a working singer and has performed at most of the major Jazz Festivals and Cruise Ships all over the globe. He has been a member of The Big Band Academy of America since 1986, and has met and shared stories with most of the Big Band legends and Hollywood stars. The late actress/singer June MacCloy was a very close friend as well as Eddie Fisher, Alice Faye, Phil Harris, and Rudy Vallee. Jeff has interviewed many of his friends on the air. Past interviews have included Bea Wain, Mamie Van Doren, Larry Storch, Eddie Fisher, Gogi Grant, June Foray, Van Alexander, Butch Stone, Buddy Morrow, Coleen Gray, Charlie Callas, John Byner, Don Pitts, Nina Foch, Jerry Dexter, Helen Grayco, Spike Jones Jr., Janet Waldo, Gary Stevens, Herb Jeffries and many others.
